SUMMARY

The Data Analyst provides support to the Department of Interior, Department of Equity and Inclusion. This position utilizes expertise in statistical analysis to maintain data and develop analyses to support the completion of an equity Assessment for DOI. Activities will include the cleaning, consolidation and analysis of workforce data, supplier diversity data and grants data. The candidate will have beginner to intermediate skills in analytics and reporting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Prepares and creates data files for the DOI Assessment stakeholders.

Prepares data files in consultation with project officials and performs post-hoc analyses to validate results and identify additional data assessment needs.

Provides data summary reports and data analyst support for miscellaneous data report requests.

Creates presentations, abstracts and publications.

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions as the best of own ability.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (all majors encouraged to apply) and a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education / experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGRISTRATION

Ability to obtain government security clearance

U.S. Citizens / Green Card Holders only due to government or federal requirement

Strong analytical skills, work ethic, independence, problem solving ability, effective communication skills, and overall positive attitude.

Advanced Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft productivity tools.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task while under pressure.

Functional knowledge and skill necessary to compose, layout and proofread data.

Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with solid presentation and reporting skills.

Ability to clearly and concisely communicate / explain information to a broad range of people with varying levels of technical expertise.

Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply mathematical operations such as frequency distribution, determination of data reliability and validity.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

May be required to lift, push or pull 50 pounds or more using cart or hand truck. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. May work near moving or mechanical parts. May have exposure to chemicals, fumes, warehouse environment or adverse weather conditions. May be required to use safety and personal protective equipment.
