The Senior Database Engineer will be responsible for technical design, development, coding, testing, debugging and documentation of databases and applications database to satisfy requirements of one or more systems. Responsible for creation of data services and integrating the data service components. Creates appropriate processes for migration and deployment of application from development to production through various testing environments. The Senior Database Engineer will also be responsible for designing, maintaining, enhancing and developing critical SQL databases.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Demonstrates experience and knowledge of working in a technical environment and working closely with MS SQL Technologies.
Demonstrates relational database analysis and modeling knowledge.
Works with development team in converting a MYSQL database to MS SQL Server database.
Works largely and independently on larger data management and migration projects.
Provides advanced troubleshooting for applications and systems including resolution of database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication and other distributed data issues.
Provides advanced technical support for database related project activities.
Designs and implements highly available production systems.
Designs, maintains, enhances and develops critical SQL databases.
Designs, manages and monitors index usage, statistics and other core database performance items.
Designs and helps manage backup and recovery processes for databases.
Designs and helps manage security structure and approach for databases.
Assists in the definition and implementation of database standards.
Directs a small cross-functional project team where appropriate.
Demonstrates in-depth experience in monitoring and tuning databases to provide high performance services.
Supports High Availability Production environments with 99.9%+ SLA expectations.
Supports High Availability and Always-On installations.
Secures database structures and corporate data held within databases.
Works with Senior Data Architects and Data Analysts to perform data modeling and maintains database architecture.
Designs, implements and administers SQL Server databases.
Develops comprehensive views, functions and procedures to implement complex data analytic functions.
Analyzes and resolves database system production problems.
Prepares database documentation.
Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.
Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.
Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field of study preferred, and minimum of seven (7) years’ of experience in SQL Server Database Development and Administration.
Experience of managing Microsoft Azure infrastructure – virtual machines, databases and application servers is required.
Must have excellent communication (verbal, presentation, and written) and organizational skills. Excellent skills developing approaches to meet client needs/demands while staying within project budget guidelines. Excellent follow-up and time management skills. Strong customer service orientation and associated skills. A demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Windows/Office

JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
Must be capable of developing and maintaining a SQL Server based database, migrate a MySQL database to SQL Server
Subject Matter Expert of MS SQL 2008-2016 skills including experience with installing, patching, clustering and mirroring
Knowledge of capacity planning approaches with MS SQL
Knowledge of Disaster recovery approaches, replication (geographic redundancy a plus)
Ability to analyze and troubleshooting services for complex problems, recommending improvements, staying up-to-date on security vulnerabilities, new features, hardware, software, and feasibility determination
Knowledge of how to prioritize workflow required
Ability to handle stressful and demanding situations without disruption of efficiency or professional demeanor required
Ability to work flexible hours according to business demands; sometimes on short notice required.
Conducts research using the Internet and familiar with Social Networking
Capable of building and deployment of pipeline strategies as it related to promoting SQL code changes
Capable of Implementing and managing SQL code version control and processes for the SDL
Problem solving focused on innovation and creativity
Provides support with tasks including, but not limited to, committee meeting agenda preparation and distribution
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discount, interest, commission, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interrupt an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram from and deal with several abstract and concrete variable.
Ability to read analyze and interpret common and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publications that conform to prescribed styles and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and / or boards of directors.
