The Reporting Specialist III collects, maintains, and analyzes accurate project metrics, task financials, and data for project reporting for the Department of Energy (DOE). The Reporting Specialist also provides a broad range of technical and reporting support to ensure all aspects of ongoing projects are handled. 


Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Independently prepares and maintains documentation, procedures and methods including user reference manuals.

Composes and finalizes documentation, including specifications and user manuals, in the style and format required by the task. 

Researches and develops documentation in support of specific customer requirements.

Works closely with analysts and clients to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness of information and its presentation.

Maintains a current internal documentation library and provides or coordinates documentation services as required.

May be required to rework documentation produced under contract by other vendors to bring the documentation into compliance for distribution.

Produces manuals and documents as directed.

Assists the training team in the production of materials as needed.

Performs other writing and production assignments as requested.

Track and manage federal employee time and attendance in the assigned system. Provides employee Travel support as required by regulations and DOE policy. Makes travel arrangements (e.g., airline, lodging and transportation reservations) and prepares travel authorizations and vouchers.

Provides records management support, such as file maintenance and correspondence tracking.

Other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output. 

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.


High school diploma or GED and three (3) years’ writing experience or equivalent combination of education / experience. Must have relevant education and administrative support experience in a professional business environment. Knowledgeable in the analysis of business and user needs, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper system requirement specifications. Experience creating detailed reports and giving presentations.


Must be a US citizen

Possess of or ability to obtain/maintain a security clearance


Computer knowledge with skilled proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)

Proficient in the understanding and application of analytic techniques and data mining

Skilled in the use of project management software tools and methodologies

Excellent organization skills with ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with ability to write coherent reports

Ability to schedule and coordinate meetings

Ability to produce quality work, meet critical deadlines and pay attention to detail

Ability to be proactive, take initiative and accept accountability for assigned work functions

Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills

Ability to professionally and effectively interact with all levels of management and coworkers

Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Fundamental analytical and conceptual thinking skills.


Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
