The Business Analyst creates documentation for a large complex military base technology modernization program, and sets up and maintains a document repository.


Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Develops and actively maintains, throughout the duration of the project, an inventory of all currently owned and new documents.

Edits and recreates documents using full MS Office Suite including (but not limited to) Word, One Drive, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Excel, Project and Visio.

Ensures that technical and/or specialized information is translated into clear, readable documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel.

Reviews all project documents for quality, readability, makes actionable recommendations and edits following plain language and best practices. All development or remediation of existing documentation is performed in accordance with section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Plain Language Act, which assures all web pages and applications are accessible as mandated by the federal government.

Prepares briefing materials, minutes, summary documents and reports relating to project status and delivers to project officer weekly.

Develops and manages all project documentation in accordance with the CDC, OCOO, HRO and PCA policies, procedures, best practices and branding.

Responsible for self-development by being available and receptive to any training made available by the CDC.

Provides assistance in planning, scheduling and coordinating project meetings as needed.

Provides expert assistance to the team with writing, editing, proofreading, internal document clearance process and publishing of communication products and other policies and procedures as needed.

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output. 

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.


Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two (2) years’ relevant experience. Direct experience in gathering information from varied sources, writing, editing, proofreading and documenting projects. Prior experience with the military or federal government preferred.


This position requires possession of or the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

U.S. citizens only due to government or federal requirement


Knowledge and understanding of effective communication strategies, messaging and custom audience targeting

Proficiency in document development with ability to implement a high degree of professional judgment and a clear understanding of the information to be communicated

Knowledgeable and proficient in the use of the English language as to professional grammar, spelling, punctuation and capitalization

Exceptional verbal and written communications skills with ability to create a variety of materials (i.e., reports, publications, manuals, handbooks, technical standards, briefings, advisory circulars, etc.)

In depth knowledge and proficient skills developing graphic communication presentations

Excellent research, analytical, proofreading and editing skills

Excellent creative development skills with ability to quickly comprehend technical information and translate ideas / concepts into a finished document

Expert computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Windows / Office (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access and SharePoint) and ability to quickly grasp specialized software programs

Maintains a current internal documentation library and provides / coordinates documentation services, as required.

Performs quality assurance during the documentation process.

Responsible for tracking changes.

Highly organized, self-motivated and detail-oriented with ability to manage a complex project, priorities and deadlines

Ability to adapt to rapidly changing production components and schedules

Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills

Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment toward the successful achievement of goals


Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers.


Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
