The AutoCAD Operator provides design and drafting support to the Marine Corps Base Quantico Network Infrastructure Upgrade project. The position utilizes Visio and CAD software to assist Site Survey Engineers in the planning and design of upgraded network requirements for existing telecom rooms. Additionally, the position manages and maintains a repository of as-built and newly designed drawing documents.


Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Provides CAD and Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) design and support for the network upgrade of telecom rooms for the project at Quantico Marine Corps Base.

Ensures the CAD / CAFM services that are provided are detailed, accurately documented and noted to meet project requirements. 

Maintains CAD and CAFM Drawing library for project, which includes maintaining configuration and version control of drawings; and that they are distributed and easily accessible by team members.    

Maintains an accurate repository of as-built drawing documents and as-built CAFM drawing documents of TR rooms, MDF’s and other spaces required for the project.

Works closely with Design Engineers and the Project RCDD to design and document drawing in CADD and Visio when necessary.

Responsible for communicating with team Engineers about concerns or problems in timely manner.

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company. 

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output. 

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers.  Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources.  Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.


Associate’s degree in Technical Design and Drafting, or related field and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in CAD and Visio design and drafting and manual preparation / interpretation of engineering drawings and technical illustrations or equivalent combination of education / experience.



Working knowledge of Microsoft Productivity Tools; CAD design /Visio drafting and technical illustrations

Knowledge of current technological development / trends in area of expertise

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

Highly organized and extremely detail-oriented with ability to grasp quickly business needs and issues

Ability to prepare architectural plans using Auto-CAD and Visio drafting software and techniques

Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to manage workload and time effectively

Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment

Knowledge of IT closet design and planning


Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.


Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
