AWS Cloud Architect
The AWS Cloud Architect is responsible for providing expertise in migration lifecycle of on-premises public health information systems and databases to public clouds of Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for the lifecycle of migration on-prem applications and systems to Amazon Web Services.
Develops architectural designs for migrating on-prem applications into AWS Cloud. Supports implementation of solutions in collaboration with Federal IT Stakeholders.
Automates infrastructure management in Amazon Web Services with CloudFormation.
Builds CI/CD pipeline configurations to orchestrate provisioning and deployment of both large and small-scale systems.
Automates monitoring tools to monitor system health and reliability to support high uptime requirements.
Automates disaster recovery plans to support the applications that run in multiple availability zones and across regions in AWS.
Maintains customer satisfaction through a combination of meeting performance objectives, frequent communications, and developing the relationship so that collaboration and consultative solutions-oriented approaches are possible.
Seeks opportunities to expand business. Participates as required in proposal and solution development for additional project opportunities.
Develops project plans and associated communications documents. Identifies and manages project dependencies and critical path. Tracks project milestones and deliverables.
Develops and delivers progress reports such as project metrics and project status.
Estimates the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
Ensures the highest quality services in the conduct and delivery of the Primary Project Objectives as defined in the contract Statement of Work.
Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to any training made available by the company.
Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.
Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and minimum of ten (10) years’ of IT experience, preferably in a Federal Government environment. Minimum four (4) years’ related work experience in DevOps technologies. Minimum two (2) years’ of experience working in an AWS environment. Previous experience working with the Department of Health and Human Services especially with Food and Drug Administration is preferred. Knowledge of Enterprise Performance Life Cycle is required.
CERTIFICATES / LICENSES / REGISTRATION
Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
Certification as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate is preferred.
JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
Experience in solution architecture, technology roadmap development, and data integration
Experience with migrating on-prem application to Cloud computing platforms, primarily AWS and have mid-level knowledge of modern Cloud and Open Systems databases (Amazon Aurora, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Hadoop, MongoDB, MariaDB, MySQL, etc.)
Experience in information system design, including application programming, Database Management Systems (DBMS) and the IT infrastructure
Must have strong working knowledge of using Jira, MS Project applied to a software development life cycle
Experience with automation/configuration management using Puppet, Chef or an equivalent
Must have working knowledge of Agile Methodologies
Detail-oriented with advanced analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Exceptional organization skills with ability to manage effectively multiple projects and priorities
Excellent verbal and written communications skills with ability to organize, document, present and explain information
Ability to clearly and concisely communicate / explain technical information to a broad range of people with varying levels of technical expertise
Ability to coordinate efforts with others for the timely and successful completion of projects and deliverables
Ability to work well both individually and in a cross-functional team environment
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
