The Solutions Architect supports the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) by identifying design requirements and proposing solutions for client needs that are highly technical or specialized in nature. This position provides technical consulting support as well as advance technical design and specifications, planning process assistance, and proposal support.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Makes well-thought-out decisions on complex or ambiguous IT architecture issues.
Coordinates with users to determine requirements.
Assists with writing, updating and editing technical documents.
Evaluates technical trends and provides recommendations for technology and architecture to meet business objectives.
Performs research on emerging technologies to support proof-of-concept (POC) capabilities and identify future solutions for the organization.
Thinks strategically about business and creates technical solutions around customer objectives in complex situations.
Develops solution strategies, motivates and mobilizes resources and delivers results.
Leads and/or supports technical teams in implementing identified solutions.
Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to any training made available by the company.
Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.
Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum ten (10) years of experience, or equivalent combination of education / experience. Professional experience related to infrastructure architecture, database architecture, networking, operating solutions and deployment processes. Technology or software consulting experience in both solution implementation as well as solution architecture design preferred. Experience with government procurement preferred.

Knowledge of federal government application, server, and network security requirements such as ICD 503, FISMA and FedRAMP and Oracle Federal Financial
Experience with the following web technologies: XML, SPML/SOAP, Web and Application Servers, HTML
Experience setting up and installing software on both Windows and Unix (Linux, Sun, HP, AIX) platforms
Experience with Databases (Oracle, Sybase, MSSQL, MySQL)
Experience with Directories (LDAP, AD)
Experience with enterprise systems (SAP, PeopleSoft) a plus
Familiarity with identity management provisioning systems (Sun, Oracle, IBM, Novell) a plus
Familiarity with multiple languages, including C++, Java, Python
Experience in federal consulting, including building relationships and explaining recommendations to senior clients
Experience with Procurement, Financial and Human Resources system support for government agencies a plus
Knowledgeable in the analysis of business and user needs, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper system requirement specifications
Advanced knowledge and understanding of IT architecture principles, practices and procedures with ability to design, develop and implement infrastructure
Advanced proficiency in assessing operational risks as to cause and effect on profitability
Exceptional knowledge and understanding of computer hardware, systems software, software development, systems architecture and integration
