The Software Developer provides support to the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command Software Engineering Center Enterprise Information Systems Directorate (CECOM SEC-EISD) Legacy Logistics Division, Food Systems Branch. This Position is responsible for the design and creation of software solutions and determines ways to create software solutions that are both attractive to the user and easy to navigate.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Uses programming languages, particularly VB.net, SQL Server 2008, ASP.NET, C#, and
HTML/CSS, JavaScript, in order to create a viable and attractive product.

Creates new software solutions, modifies, repairs or improves existing applications, and tests solutions for functionality.

Responsible for solution planning, developing, organizing, implementing, designing and evaluating web or desktop applications.

Maintains records to document program development and revisions. Provides technical documentation that describes software functions, maintenance requirements, and maintenance techniques.

Performs project management tasks such as developing a timeline for all projects, communicating with clients and project team members, keeping up-to-date with web and desktop applications, and performing other related duties as assigned.

Communicates easily and effectively via email, instant messaging, telephone conversations and in person. In doing so, creates a site that meets the expectations of the site owner, which may require making several changes along the way.

 

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.

 

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output. 

 

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability.

 

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or other Technical discipline and minimum years’ relevant experience as listed below, or equivalent combination of education / experience.

 

Software Developer III – (Degree and five (5) years’ of experience)

Minimum of five years combined experience with: VB.NET, Web Services, SQL Server 2012 (Backend Development), N Tier Development in Windows Environment, XML, PKI Infrastructure experience with current Army Food Management Information System (AFMIS).

 

Software Developer II – (Degree and three (3) years’ of experience)

Experience with: Web Services, SQL Server 2012 (Backend Development), N Tier Development in Windows Environment, XML, PKI Infrastructure experience. Minimum of one year experience with the current Army Food Management Information System (AFMIS).

 

Software Developer I – (Degree and two (2) years’ of experience)

Minimum of IAT Level One accreditation with 2 years of experience with: Web Services,SQL Server 2012 (Backend Development), N Tier Development in Windows Environment, XML, PKI Infrastructure experience. Minimum of one year experience with the current Army Food Management Information System (AFMIS).

                                                 

CERTIFICATES / LICENSES / REGISTRATION

 

JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES

Advance knowledge in basic programming languages, particularly VB.net, MS SQL Server 2008,  Microsoft .NET frameworks, ASP.NET, C#, and Web development skills (HTML/CSS, JavaScript), in order to create a viable and attractive product

Exceptional software development and programming skills

Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to develop and follow through on creative solutions for software design and development tasks

Effective verbal and written communication skills with ability to organize, document, present and explain information

Ability to escalate issues in a timely manner

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professiona1journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
