The Network Administrator helps maintain all of Library of Congress (LOC) VLANs including installing, configuring and maintaining network switches. The Network Administrator configures VLANs in accordance with LOC guidance, Air Force NetLaw guidance and applicable DoD regulations.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • CCNA certification is required

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required customer clearance for access to systems, facilities, equipment and property.

  • Experience with WAN/LAN administration; Proficiency with Cisco, Infoblox, ACI environments

  • Operational knowledge of computer hardware, systems software and computer network architecture / integration with proven ability to debug complex systems and to conduct reviews, audits and testing

  • Knowledge of communication networks including switch / router configuration, firewall configuration, and network security

  • Operational knowledge and understanding of multiple label switch paths (MPLS)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Excellent documentation skills

  • Ability to resourcefully utilize available tools and resources to resolve issues

  • Ability to work well both individually and in a team environment

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Participates in managing network security solutions, including firewall, and intrusion detection systems, overseeing installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network/​VoIP-related equipment.

  • Installation and maintenance of routers, switches, wireless controllers utilizing appropriate tools and procedures. Ensure that router, switch, and other network equipment installation, repair and maintenance by Cisco’s proper procedures.

  • Monitor environmental factors of data centers and network closets.

  • Using the ServiceNow Ticketing system to track and document all changes to switch runs, closet configurations, and monument setups.

  • Maintain network equipment records in automated system, update network maps and perform Configuration Management.

  • Use tools to perform monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance telecommunication circuits including DWDM optical circuits.

  • Uses network management tools and related test equipment. Ensure that complete, quality documentation is maintained.

  • Installing and configuring system and network components per specification. This includes systems required for setting up new offices, and office moves.

  • Installing/Updating/Testing the operating Cisco IOS as required. Configuring remote management access.

  • Performing installations, upgrades, troubleshooting, configurating, and maintaining access

  • devices (wireless and wired switches) including port utilization, assignment and overall

  • documentation as needed.

  • Perform monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance telecommunication circuits including DWDM/WAN optical circuits.

  • Conducts research and makes recommendations on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.​

  • Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery.

  • Configures networks to ensure smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives, processes, and utilization of the appropriate mechanisms to maintain the management of configurations for the network infrastructure.

  • Responsible for network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information, monitoring and testing network performance, and providing network performance statistics and reports.​ 

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field; or four (4) years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.

The estimated pay range for this role is $90k to $120k, with the final offer contingent on location, skillset, and experience.
