SUMMARY

The Communications Associate will be responsible for assisting with writing and communication projects that support a cohesive federal communication strategy which includes workforce communications for a diverse group of civilians and military and external public affairs opportunities. They are responsible for planning and implementing communication strategies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Supports the implementation of cohesive communications strategies that span social media, media relations, email campaigns, and related communications strategies.

Coaches and mentors other communications professionals on the team.

Creates and implements communications material that delivers consistent key messages to target audiences through appropriate channels that are consistent with branding, messaging, and digital (social media) strategies.

Engages with project stakeholders in written and oral communication effectively and professionally.

Prepares quality client deliverables.

Supports public engagements, inward-facing engagements (leading the planning and execution of Agency events), media relations, knowledge management, and preserving the agency’s history.

Elevates the brand awareness through events, social media, DISA.mil and other communication channels.

Conducts daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.  

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company. 

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions as the best of own ability.

Fosters an environment in which they will report any violations or reasonably suspected violation of CNI policy, FAR, and/or CFR and are comfortable discussing the myriad compliance, conflict, FAR, CFR, etc. issues that arise during the performance of a government contract.  

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two (2+) years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience. Additional work experience and/or advanced education (Master’s Degree, MBA, etc.) is preferred.

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATION

Must be able to possess a Secret security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.

JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

Demonstrated experience working the communications field and creating high-quality deliverables for client.

Support the development of materials such as communications plans, leadership briefings, fact sheets, website content, and email blasts that are high quality and free of errors.

Demonstrate collaborative teamwork.

Demonstrate writing, editing, proofreading, and formatting of client-ready materials.

Strong consulting and interpersonal skills; able to work in a team environment.

Strong presentation skills and ability to work with demanding client and senior leadership.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project)

Strong writing skills, and experience developing and editing high-quality written materials, including client educational materials, fact sheets, infographics, posters, and reports.

Experience using design programs and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other standard software is required.

Familiarity with requirements of the Federal Government Printing Office Style Manual and/or Section 508 compliance is a plus.

Ability to self-start and prioritize projects and meet deadlines.

Innate customer service mentality and experience working directly with clients.

Ability to solve problems quickly and creatively.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.  Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.
