SUMMARY

The Senior II Scientist/Engineer/Systems Analyst supports the FAA IIF to build and maintain the services supported by multiple discovery integrations as a consolidated inventory source for hardware and software.  

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Experience with systems engineering and/or test of FAA systems is preferred. 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Provides Architecture and client facing support across technologies and vendors such as Cisco, NetApp, VMware, Windows/Unix/Linux environments, VMware’s vSphere, and Microsoft Hyper-V on a set of enterprise-level IT systems. 

 
Supports the development of infrastructure designs that are innovative, resilient, and highly available. 

 
Provides SME support on tiered storage systems, both on-premises and cloud and unified computing. 

 
Supports high available web applications hosted across various operating systems and understanding of load balancing, elasticity, etc. 

 
Develops and presents white papers to bring next generation innovation to the client. 

 
Provides SME automation of IT Infrastructure. 

 
Supports operational SLA’s 99.99%. 

 
Provides SME support across the domain Lead and guides the work of junior technical staff. Serves as liaison between PM and technical staff in all aspects of projects. Plans project stages and assesses business implications for each stage. 

Responsible for operational availability of all the systems hosted on the infrastructure. 

Provides SME support of cloud hybrid COOP & DR plans. 

 
Supports information assurance process in a technical role by complying with technical controls, technical checklists etc. 

 
Assists and mentors’ junior members on the team. 

Creates, reviews and updates CMDB requirements and processes with cross-functional teams to ensure CMDB accuracy. 

 
Builds and maintains an updated knowledge base, scheduled and ad-hoc reporting, dashboard visibility supporting CMDB upkeep. 

 
Proactively reviews inventory status of IT hardware and performing reconciliation analysis of IT asset records within our ServiceNow environment. 

 
Identifies opportunities on how to better manage and reconcile inventory and related reporting. 

 
Promotes ITAM best practices and consistent process execution across the team, this includes maintaining ITAM work instructions and standard operating procedures documents. 

 
Defines audit and asset record reconciliation procedures for recurring data integrity refresh. 

 
Research new and innovative solutions and promoting process improvement. 

 
Identifies and pursues process improvement, automation, and application integration opportunities. 

 
Learns from and educates fellow team members. 

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.  

  

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of fifteen (15) years’ relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education/experience.

JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

Ability to function as a task lead for the FAA ERAM IIF laboratory. This includes providing weekly lab status reports and weekly ERAM lab staffing status updates to the FAA, as well as assisting with monthly status reporting with the project PM. 

Ability to provide a comprehensive definition of all aspects of system engineering and system development from analysis of mission needs to verification of system performance.   

Ability to develop NAS simulations and provide analysis reports to meet customer requirements for engineering studies.  

Ability to perform evaluations of problem solution alternatives as well as program risk and cost assessments.  

Experience with analog and digital communication systems is preferred. 

Experience in NAS Simulation generation techniques and systems including the ERAM Scenario. 

Familiar with Generation Tool, JVN Graphical Scenario Generation Tool (GSGT) and Simulation Driver and Radar Recorder (SDRR). 

Familiar with En Route (ERAM) Data Reduction and Analysis capabilities.  

Knowledge of FAA software development environments and configurations for ERAM and ECG.  

Knowledge of Adaptation products for FAA systems including ERAM and ECG.  

Knowledge of Long Range and Short-range RADAR technology.  

Knowledge of Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast (ADS-B).  

Experience as a Systems Engineer analyzing SW and HW problems. 

Experience reviewing and writing Technical Documents. 

Experience with FAA System Support Modifications (SSMs), System Support Documents (SSDs) a plus. 

General knowledge of scripting a plus. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
